Team Fiji Athletes Attend Farewell Church Service Ahead of Paris Olympics Journey

A selection of athletes from Team Fiji, who are slated for participation in the upcoming Paris Olympics, attended a farewell church service at the Calvary Temple in Suva. Sale Sorovaki, the team’s chef de mission, also in attendance, expressed their gratitude for the invitation and the encouraging message they received from the church.

Sorovaki revealed that only five members of Team Fiji could attend the service as the men’s national 7s team decided to spend time with their families before departure to France the following day. He explained that different sports teams have varied training schedules and pre-game camps, leading to the team members travelling at different times.

Sorovaki confirmed that all athletic teams representing Fiji in the Olympics would reconvene in the games village in France between July 18-20. He appreciated the inspiring words from the church service, noting the significant role they play in mentally preparing and motivating the athletes ahead of the Olympics. The event was covered in an article by The Fiji Times.
