The Education Minister, Aseri Radrodro, has revealed that teachers who have enhanced their qualifications in accordance with the Teacher Remuneration Policy will receive a total payout of $988,648.30 in their final pay for 2024. In the upcoming 2024-2025 financial year, the overall expenses for these salary increments will amount to $2.3 million.
Teachers who meet the necessary qualification criteria will be permanently elevated in their salary structure to either Band E, Step 1, or Band F, Step 3 of the Fiji Civil Service pay scale. Minister Radrodro underscored the importance of teachers, describing them as the foundation of the education system, and emphasized that this initiative serves as recognition of their commitment to providing quality education.
He also pointed out that adequate compensation is crucial for retaining a talented and enthusiastic teaching workforce, which is essential for the continued improvement of the education sector.
