Education Minister Aseri Radrodro has announced a significant payout of $988,648.30 for teachers who have enhanced their qualifications in accordance with the Teacher Remuneration Policy, set to be disbursed in the final pay period of 2024. This payout is part of a larger financial commitment totaling $2.3 million for the 2024-2025 fiscal year to support these increments.
Qualified teachers will see their pay upgraded permanently to either Band E, Step 1, or Band F, Step 3 within the Fiji Civil Service pay structure. Minister Radrodro emphasized that teachers are the cornerstone of the education system, and this initiative aims to acknowledge their unwavering commitment to providing quality education.
The focus on proper remuneration is not only a means of rewarding current educators but also a strategy to retain skilled and passionate teachers essential for the future development of Fiji’s educational landscape.
This initiative represents a positive step forward in recognizing the hard work and dedication of teachers, and it reflects the government’s commitment to improving the quality of education within the nation. It is essential to support educators, as they play a crucial role in shaping the future of the students and, ultimately, the country.
