iTaukei Affairs Minister, Ifereimi Vasu, has expressed great excitement over the tax-free incentives introduced for iTaukei businesses. Following the recent announcement of his ministry’s financial allocation in Parliament, Vasu lauded this year’s budget allotment, revealing that an increase from $38.6 million last year to $39.3 million this year was made. He noted that a significant highlight was the introduction of tax-free incentives for iTaukei business owners, a first-time concession. The Minister also mentioned that the government intends to pay for the interest on loans taken by iTaukei businesses from the Fiji Development Bank or Merchant Finance, which he sees as a substantial aid. He added that the ministry would also concentrate on village improvement endeavors, enabling them to provide better assistance to various villages in Fiji.
