The Tanoa Hotel Group recently celebrated the conclusion of its “Biggest Loser Challenge,” an initiative aimed at promoting health and wellness among its staff members. This year, employees from all Tanoa hotels across Fiji, Samoa, and Tonga energetically took part in the challenge, culminating in the Tanoa Tusitala Hotel emerging as the overall winner. Senior guest service agent Seri Tagaloa distinguished herself as the champion by losing an impressive 14 kilograms.

Tagaloa described her transformation as incredible and credited her determination in pushing through the challenges during the six-week program. The initiative included engaging activities such as Zumba sessions, a detox program, and fitness training by certified trainers. Participants enjoyed team hikes and took part in walk/run competitions, which contributed to not only better physical health, monitored weekly, but also greater team bonding.

The menu for the participants was considerably modified to include healthier options, eliminating fried foods and sugary drinks, which required some dedication, such as skipping family Sunday meals. However, Tagaloa expressed that the results were worthwhile, particularly commending the improvements in blood sugar and blood pressure levels among participants.
