The Tailevu/Naitasiri football team is set to rely on its Under-19 players for the upcoming FMF Inter-District Championship (IDC), scheduled to begin on October 15. Head coach Priyant Manu stated that the team will prepare thoroughly before traveling to Churchill Park in Lautoka. They are placed in Group B of the Premier division, competing alongside Tavua and Savusavu.
Manu mentioned that Tailevu/Naitasiri has previously only secured the Senior division title at the IDC and is now aiming for the Premier division championship. He recognizes the significance of the IDC as the last tournament of the year for all teams, which adds to the pressure to perform well.
“Definitely, it’s a tough pool with Tavua, as they have just been promoted,” he noted. “We will give it our best shot. Most of our under-19 and youth players will be given the opportunity to gain experience during the IDC. We are confident we can make an impact on game day.”
The IDC matches are scheduled to take place from October 15 to October 20.
