The Tailevu/Naitasiri football team is set to rely on their Under-19 players as they prepare for the FMF Inter-District Championship (IDC), which begins on October 15. Head coach Priyant Manu stated that the team is getting ready to head to Churchill Park in Lautoka.
Competing in Group B of the Premier division alongside Tavua and Savusavu, Tailevu/Naitasiri aims to secure their first title in the Premier division, having only previously won in the Senior division at the IDC. Manu noted that both Tavua and Savusavu will be eager to perform well since this tournament marks the end of the year for competitive play.
“It’s definitely a tough pool with Tavua, who have just been promoted,” he said. “We will give it our best effort. Most of our Under-19 and youth players will have the opportunity to gain exposure at this tournament. We will certainly do our best come game day.”
The IDC will take place from October 15 to 20.
