Tahiti Dominates Fiji with Stunning 10-1 Victory to Secure Final Spot

Defending champions Tahiti dominated Fiji with a 10-1 victory in their second match of the OFC Beach Soccer Men’s Nations Cup held in Honiara, Solomon Islands, securing their spot in the final. Despite the return of Captain Tevita Waranaivalu and experienced player Madhwan Goundar, Fiji struggled against the powerful Tahitian team.

Tahiti took an early lead with Heimanu Terorotua’s volley in the 3rd minute, followed by Matatia Paama scoring from a blocked shot just two minutes later. Ro’onui Tinirauarii then added another goal before Paama netted his second, leaving Fiji unable to respond during a dominant first period.

Displaying remarkable stamina after their recent 10-9 win against the Solomon Islands less than 24 hours prior, Tahiti effectively secured their place in Saturday’s final, with one match remaining against Papua New Guinea.

Fiji increased their efforts in the second half, but Tahiti’s defense remained strong while their offense proved deadly. Tinirauarii scored a spectacular bicycle kick in the 18th minute before Gervais Chan Kat added another goal just two minutes later. Patrick Tepa capped off the second period with a goal in the final minute.

The scoring spree continued in the third period with additional goals from Tetauira, Chan Kay, and captain Raimana Li Fung Kuee, bringing the Tahitian tally to double figures. Fiji managed to score a consolation goal through France Catarogo in the closing seconds of the match.
