The Minister for Public Works, Ro Filipe Tuisawau, has emphasized that water management is a critical issue in the country, which the Coalition Government is dedicated to addressing comprehensively. Speaking during a parliamentary session, Tuisawau highlighted that the government is tackling not only infrastructure challenges but also the impacts of climate change and prolonged dry spells.
To mitigate these challenges, the government has implemented various measures, including water rationing and scheduling to help communities manage water shortages effectively.
Tuisawau mentioned the introduction of structured water rationing programs that assist different communities facing water scarcity. He also pointed out the ongoing free water tank initiative, which has already supplied tanks to various rural and affected areas, and remains available for those in need.
Additionally, he noted that this initiative helps residents cope with water shortages, while temporary solutions such as the construction of temporary cofferdams are also being developed. Tuisawau asserted that these efforts are part of a continuous process to ensure long-term water security.
