The Minister for Public Works, Ro Filipe Tuisawau, has emphasized that water scarcity is a significant issue in the country, which the Coalition Government is dedicated to resolving comprehensively.

In a recent speech in Parliament, Tuisawau highlighted not only the infrastructure challenges but also the effects of climate change and ongoing dry spells that exacerbate the situation.

He mentioned that the Government has implemented various measures to mitigate these issues, including the introduction of water rationing and scheduling programs, designed to help communities manage water shortages effectively.

Additionally, Tuisawau noted the free water tank initiatives, which have been distributed to numerous rural areas and other impacted regions, with the scheme still accepting applications. This initiative assists residents in storing water during shortages.

Moreover, he pointed out that the construction of temporary cofferdams serves as another short-term solution, with ongoing efforts aimed at long-term improvements.
