Sydney Suva triumphed over Labasa with a score of 2-0 in an exciting final to claim the Rams Group of Companies 10th Sanatan World Cup. Early in the match, young player Marcus Lal scored the opening goal for Suva, despite later missing a penalty opportunity.
Labasa’s rivals, Anish Khem and Ashnil Raju, worked diligently to bring their team back into contention, but the solid defense of Sydney, led by goalkeeper Jerome Narayan, along with Krishneel Dutt and Kishan Sami, managed to hold strong against their efforts.
The match was ultimately sealed by former Nadi striker Shivneel Pillay, who scored a brilliant goal midway through the second half. Labasa’s situation worsened when Melvin Mani was sent off, leaving the team with just ten players.
In recognition of individual performances, Narayan received the Golden Glove award, while Lal was awarded the Golden Boot for scoring seven goals throughout the tournament. Pranit Singh earned the title of Most Valuable Player of the World Cup, and Sydney Suva was recognized as the Best Disciplined Team.
