SVC Celebrates 75 Years of Excellence: A Journey of Empowerment and Growth

Swami Vivekananda College (SVC) recently celebrated its 75th platinum jubilee, marking a significant milestone since its establishment in 1949. The event was themed “Celebrating 75 Years of Youth Empowerment and Nation Building,” reflecting the institution’s commitment to providing a nurturing educational environment for its students.

The celebration featured Education Assistant Minister Iliesa Vanawalu as the chief guest. During his address, he emphasized the importance of reflection and the responsibilities that come with the college’s legacy. He encouraged the staff and students to continue fostering the values that SVC is known for and highlighted the institution’s role in the development of the local community, particularly in Malolo, Nadi, and the surrounding areas.

Vanawalu noted the school’s impressive journey since it first opened as Shri Vivekananda High School with only 19 students. Today, it proudly serves over 1,000 students, equipping them with the education and support they need to succeed. He also expressed gratitude towards the founders of SVC, including Swami Rudrananda, A.D. Patel, and Sadhu Kuppuswami, for their vision and contributions to the community.

The jubilee celebration took place at the school auditorium and served as a reminder of the institution’s rich history and accomplishments, with the theme resonating with the heart and soul of Swami Vivekananda College. Vanawalu concluded by acknowledging the many talented students who have passed through the college, excelling academically and contributing to cultural activities over the years.
