SVC Celebrates 75 Years of Empowering Youth and Building a Nation

Swami Vivekananda College (SVC) recently commemorated its 75th platinum jubilee. Founded in 1949, the institution has been dedicated to delivering quality education to its students. Under the theme “Celebrating 75 years of Youth Empowerment and Nation Building,” the college has established itself as a nurturing environment for learners striving for knowledge and excellence.

The platinum jubilee celebration featured Education Assistant Minister, Iliesa Vanawalu, as the chief guest. In his address, Mr. Vanawalu stated, “This Platinum Jubilee is a time for reflection for everyone in this institution. You must continue to steer this ship in the right direction. Give this celebration real meaning by upholding the values and achievements your institution is known for.”

He praised SVC for its significant contributions to the educational landscape, especially in the development of Malolo, Nadi, and surrounding areas. Mr. Vanawalu noted, “These incredible 75 years is marked with a profound history, and this celebration is a proud occasion to reflect on the amazing accomplishments of this institution.”

Initially known as Shri Vivekananda High School with just 19 students, SVC has grown remarkably over the years. Today, it serves over 1,000 students, offering them the education and support they need to succeed. The minister expressed gratitude to the founders of SVC—Swami Rudrananda, A.D. Patel, Sadhu Kuppuswami, and the Sangam leaders—for their vision in establishing the school and enriching the local community through education.

“The theme for this celebration truly reflects the heart and soul of Swami Vivekananda College,” he added. “I have no doubt that many gifted students have attended the college and excelled not only academically but also in creative and cultural activities.”

The celebration took place at the school’s auditorium.
