Swami Vivekananda College marked its Platinum Jubilee on Monday, an important milestone in its 75-year legacy. During the celebration, Assistant Education Minister Iliesa Vanawalu emphasized the importance of reflection for everyone involved with the institution.
He encouraged attendees to keep guiding the institution in the right direction and to honor its values and achievements. “SVC has provided quality education to the youth in this community and played a vital role in the development of Malolo, Nadi, and surrounding areas,” he stated.
Vanawalu highlighted that the 75-year journey of the college is deeply rooted in a remarkable history and that this event is a significant opportunity to celebrate its outstanding accomplishments. The college, originally founded in 1949 as Shri Vivekananda High School with just 19 students, now serves over 1,000 learners, equipping them with the education and support for their success.
He also expressed gratitude toward the founders of SVC for their visionary leadership in establishing the school, acknowledging the contributions of Swami Rudrananda, Mr. A.D. Patel, Sadhu Kuppuswami, and members of the Sangam community in shaping the institution’s path to success.
The theme of the celebration, “Celebrating 75 Years of Youth Empowerment and Nation Building,” reflects the essence of Swami Vivekananda College. Vanawalu expressed his confidence that many talented students have passed through its doors, excelling not only academically but also in creative and cultural endeavors.
