Suva City Council Embraces Digital Revolution for Improved Services

Tevita Boseiwaqa, the chairman of the Suva City Council special administrators, announced that the council plans to transition to a digital platform this financial year to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery. In an interview, Mr. Boseiwaqa highlighted that this digital shift aims to improve the services provided to ratepayers. He noted that the installation process is currently in its early stages.

Mr. Boseiwaqa expressed optimism about the upcoming digital advancements, stating, “Hopefully, we’ll be digitalised more from this year.” He explained that the council has initiated digital transformation initiatives, which are also in the initial phase.

He mentioned that the necessary hardware is already in place to support various applications for the city’s services. The council has allocated a budget for this year to facilitate these changes and is collaborating with a specialized technical partner to oversee the installations.

With this new approach, Mr. Boseiwaqa emphasized that the council aims to minimize backlogs. He remarked, “Well, nowadays we are living in a digitalised world; it eases up the delivery of services for us, mainly the ratepayers and residents.”
