The Suva 1 district athletics team is focused on defending the boys’ championship while also striving for the girls’ title at the forthcoming national Chow Games.

An athletics meeting for Suva 1 took place at HFC Bank Stadium on Tuesday, attracting around 1,000 athletes from 14 schools. The participation was boosted by the inclusion of two new schools, Marist Convent Primary School and Suva Christian Community School, highlighting the district’s expanding interest in athletics.

Bill Momo, head coach of Suva 1 athletics, expressed his pleasure with the increased turnout. He stated, “Our target this year is to win the girls’ title at the same time. There’s still a lot of work to do, but with the support of the athletic schools and coaches like Antonio Raboiliku, I believe we can achieve our mid-term and long-term goals.”

Momo acknowledged the vital support from parents, teachers, and school leaders, emphasizing that their encouragement has been crucial to the ongoing success of Suva 1. “Suva One has been fortunate to have the support of our heads of schools and parents, and the principle of unity is embraced by most of our athletes and teachers,” he concluded.

In the recent competition, Suva Methodist Primary School emerged as the champion in the girls’ division, while Marist Brothers Primary School claimed victory in the boys’ division.
