Suva 1 Aims for Dual Titles at Chow Games

The Suva 1 district athletics team is striving to retain the boys’ championship title while also pursuing the girls’ division title at the forthcoming national Chow Games.

An athletics meeting was conducted at the HFC Bank Stadium on Tuesday, witnessing a remarkable turnout with around 1,000 athletes from 14 schools taking part. The event marked the inclusion of two new schools—Marist Convent Primary School and Suva Christian Community School—highlighting the district’s expanding involvement in athletics.

Bill Momo, head coach of the Suva 1 athletics team, expressed his contentment with the rise in participation. He stated, “Our target this year is to secure the girls’ title as well. There is still much work to be done, but with the support from the athletic schools and coaches like Antonio Raboiliku, I believe we can accomplish both mid-term and long-term goals.”

Momo acknowledged the crucial support from parents, teachers, and school leaders, emphasizing that their ongoing encouragement has been vital for Suva 1’s continuous success. “Suva One has been fortunate to have the support of our heads of schools and parents, and the principle of togetherness is embraced by most of our athletes and teachers,” he concluded.

In related news, Suva Methodist Primary School emerged victorious in the girls’ division, while Marist Brothers Primary School claimed the title in the boys’ division.
