Suva 1 Aims for Double Glory at National Chow Games!

The Suva 1 district athletics team is focused on defending its boys’ title while also striving to secure the girls’ championship at the upcoming national Chow Games.

Their recent athletics meeting at the HFC Bank Stadium drew a remarkable turnout, with around 1,000 competitors from 14 schools participating. A significant development was the inclusion of two new schools, Marist Convent Primary School and Suva Christian Community School, highlighting the district’s expanding engagement in athletics.

Bill Momo, the head coach for Suva 1 athletics, expressed his pleasure with the increased athlete participation. He emphasized that the team’s goal this year is to win the girls’ title in addition to defending the boys’ championship. Momo acknowledged that while there is much work ahead, the support from athletic schools and coaches, including Antonio Raboiliku, positions them well to achieve both short-term and long-term objectives.

He also praised the robust support from parents, teachers, and school leaders, noting that their guidance has been vital to Suva 1’s ongoing success. “Suva One has been fortunate to have the support of our heads of schools and parents, and the mantra of unity is embraced by many of our athletes and teachers,” he concluded.

In other news, Suva Methodist Primary School emerged as the overall winner in the girls’ category, while Marist Brothers Primary School secured victory in the boys’ division.
