Suspended Fiji Police Officer Set for Court Reappearance

The Deputy Director of Strategic Planning for the Fiji Police Force, who is on leave while awaiting the outcome of his trial, is scheduled to appear in court again on November 25. George Lagi appeared in front of Magistrate Jeremaia Savou in Suva yesterday. His lawyer, Sovaia Nagonevulavula, representing Joji Cakau, informed the court that they would not challenge the caution interview. Magistrate Savou will set a hearing date during the next court session. Mr. Lagi faces a charge of bribery, accused of accepting $6,580.14 from an individual between 2012 and 2014 while working in the Criminal Investigations Department.
