A 17-year-old boy is one of 26 individuals charged last month by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in connection with serious sexual offenses. He faces charges of rape and indecent assault involving a 15-year-old girl.
The group of 26 individuals collectively faces a total of 70 charges related to sexual offenses filed in August. These offenses include 46 counts of rape, 3 counts of attempted rape, 2 counts of abduction with the intent to commit rape, 5 counts of indecent assault, and 14 counts of sexual assault.
Among the 24 victims identified, 15 are under the age of 18, with the victim profile comprising 2 male and 22 female individuals. In 12 of the cases, the victims and the accused are related.
Notable incidents include a 76-year-old man charged with raping his 8-year-old granddaughter, and a 56-year-old man charged with three counts of raping his 16-year-old granddaughter. Additionally, a 40-year-old man has been charged with nine counts of raping his 8-year-old daughter.
Cases involving familial relationships continue, such as a 72-year-old man charged with raping his 17-year-old stepdaughter, with proceedings discontinued following his death. A 35-year-old man faces charges for raping and sexually assaulting his 14-year-old stepdaughter, while a 32-year-old man is charged with raping his 12-year-old stepdaughter.
Further charges include a 56-year-old man facing two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault of his 13-year-old niece, and a 40-year-old man charged with multiple offenses against his 17-year-old niece. A 37-year-old man is similarly charged with three counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault of his 16-year-old niece.
In one incident, a 31-year-old man was charged with raping his wife, but this case was dropped after the complainant confessed to fabricating the accusation. An 18-year-old man faces charges for raping his 11-year-old cousin.
Several incidents involving young adults are also reported, including a 68-year-old man charged with two counts of rape and one count of attempted rape against a 25-year-old woman, with the case later discontinued due to the complainant being unreachable.
Some cases involve a group, such as two 18-year-old men and a 20-year-old man collectively charged with multiple counts against a 16-year-old girl. Additionally, a 22-year-old man was charged with two counts of abduction with intent to commit rape against his 16-year-old girlfriend, while a 23-year-old man faces charges for raping his 20-year-old girlfriend.
A 19-year-old man is charged with rape and attempted rape of a 16-year-old girl, but this matter has been dropped after the complainant became untraceable.
Another case involves a 53-year-old man charged with multiple counts including rape against two young men. Lastly, a 32-year-old man has been charged with the rape of a 20-year-old woman, and a 29-year-old man with the rape of a 16-year-old girl, but both cases were discontinued after the victims recanted their allegations.
Overall, eight cases have been discontinued due to insufficient evidence, the unavailability of victims, or instances of false complaints.
