The 2024 Corona Fiji Pro officially commenced today, with President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere leading the opening ceremony.
President Katonivere extended a warm welcome to the 12 women and 24 men competitors from 12 different nations, wishing them success throughout the tournament. He praised the event’s organizers for their hard work, dedication, and efforts in bringing the World Tour Competition to Fiji.
“Surfing, like any other sport, is driven by passion. Over the next few days, we will not only witness impressive displays of athleticism but also celebrate a sport that captures the joy of riding the waves and the deep bond between humanity and nature,” remarked President Katonivere.
He also congratulated Fiji’s wildcard entry, Tevita Gukilau, who will represent the nation, expressing his hope that many more local talents will compete alongside international athletes in the future.
