Many people celebrated Prophet Muhammad’s birthday yesterday with organized activities and worship at home and in mosques, while others took advantage of the public holiday by enjoying picnics at various locations across the country.

The sunny, breezy weather provided an ideal backdrop for families to spend time outdoors. Members of the Kalabu Jyoti Assemblies of God church were among those making the most of the day. They began with a church service, which was followed by team bonding activities, including a potluck lunch.

Arveena Kumar, the wife of the church’s senior pastor, Suresh Kumar, expressed her satisfaction with the turnout and the activities. “We are here for team bonding and basically a family get together,” she said. Kumar mentioned that they enjoyed a hearty lunch and participated in games like spoon races, apple and bun eating contests, duck and wheelbarrow races, touch rugby, and concluded the day with swimming.

The Hedstrom family from Nakasi, Nasinu, also gathered at Suva Point in Laucala Bay to enjoy a family picnic. Kibae, the father, noted that it was a much-needed break from the routine of school and work. His son, 15-year-old Caleb Ueanimaraki, described the trip as a relaxing experience. “I came with my uncle and his family, and the trip was relaxing before we get back to school,” he shared.

The Hedstrom family, basking in the sun at Suva Point, made lasting memories on this holiday.
