Many people celebrated the birthday of Prophet Muhammad yesterday with planned activities and worship at homes and mosques, while others took advantage of the public holiday to enjoy picnics at various locations around the country. The sunny and breezy weather made it an ideal day for family outings.
Members of the Kalabu Jyoti Assemblies of God church were among those making the most of the day. Their activities began with a church service, followed by team bonding exercises that included a potluck lunch and various games. Arveena Kumar, the wife of the church’s senior pastor Suresh Kumar, remarked on the high turnout and engaging activities, stating, “We are here for team bonding and basically a family get together.” She noted the enjoyable lunch and games that included a spoon race, apple and bun eating contest, duck and wheelbarrow races, touch rugby, and concluded with swimming.
At Suva Point in Laucala Bay, the Hedstrom family from Nakasi, Nasinu, was also enjoying the day. Father Kibae expressed that the picnic offered a much-needed break from school and work. Fifteen-year-old Caleb Ueanimaraki described the outing as a relaxing experience, stating, “I came with my uncle and his family, and the trip was relaxing before we get back to school.”
