The Ministry of Education has announced that starting this month, the Cabinet has approved full subsidies for increased bus fares for students holding blue and yellow bus cards. Minister of Education Aseri Radrodro confirmed that there will be a 100 percent subsidy for blue card holders and a 50 percent subsidy for yellow card holders, alleviating financial pressure on parents.
Radrodro assured that students can continue using their blue and yellow cards as before. Blue bus card users can start redeeming their cards today, with the Ministry set to pay the full subsidy directly to Vodafone at the end of each month. For yellow card users, the same topping-up procedure by parents will apply, with the Ministry covering the 50 percent subsidy directly to Vodafone at the end of the month.
He also noted that current restrictions on the usage of Blue Subsidized cards will remain in effect, which include the following:
– Blue Cards cannot be used during school holidays and on weekends.
– Specific usage times for Blue Subsidized cards are from 6:30 am to 9:00 am and from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm.
– There is a 15-minute blackout period between taps for Blue Card holders.
