Students Caught in Shocking Drug Incident at School Event!

Four primary school students have been referred to the police after reportedly being caught smoking marijuana during an athletics event in Suva yesterday.

Chief of Operations ACP Livai Driu stated that the students were discovered with smoking paraphernalia inside a washroom. They were initially reported to the security officials at the event before law enforcement was alerted.

ACP Driu mentioned that the parents of the students have been notified and counseled regarding the implications of their children’s actions. He emphasized the importance of parents and guardians communicating with their children about the harmful effects of illicit drugs.

He cautioned that without proper guidance, children may seek advice from misguided sources, which could lead them down a harmful path.

In a related development, the Fiji Detector Dog Unit conducted a raid in a settlement in Lami yesterday, resulting in the arrest of two men who were found with nearly 100 branches of dried plants suspected to be marijuana.

They are currently in custody, and the confiscated items have been sent for testing. Police also arrested additional individuals found in possession of marijuana at various locations, including the Nausori market, Lautoka, Sigatoka, and the bus stand in Labasa, as well as in Vunivau, Labasa. All the seized substances are undergoing analysis.
