Strengthening Ties: Fiji and China Collaborate on Public Servant Training Programs

A delegation from the Ministry of Commerce of the Chinese government and the Academy for International Business Officials (AIBO) visited the Ministry of Civil Service (MCS) in Suva.

The Department of China-Aid Training, managed by AIBO, oversees all China-Aid Training programs. During the delegation’s visit, Permanent Secretary Mr. Parmesh Chand expressed gratitude to the Chinese government for their commitment, which has benefited numerous public servants over the years.

This year alone, over 100 Fijian public servants traveled to China to participate in specialized training programs. Chand is optimistic that they returned equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to implement what they learned.

Chand noted that the AIBO delegation’s visit has strengthened training and human resource development ties between Fiji and China. “The meeting provided us an opportunity to share insights, explore avenues to advance our mutual objectives, and exchange ideas,” he stated.

Civil servants who have participated in AIBO training also attended the meeting, sharing how the program has facilitated their professional development.
