Strengthening Ties: China’s Impact on Fijian Public Service Training

A delegation from China’s Ministry of Commerce and the Academy for International Business Officials (AIBO) visited the Ministry of Civil Service (MCS) in Suva, Fiji. The AIBO oversees all China-Aid Training programs conducted by the Department of China-Aid Training.

During the delegation’s visit, Permanent Secretary Parmesh Chand expressed gratitude to the Chinese government for its initiatives, which have benefitted thousands of government employees over the years. This year alone, over 100 Fijian public servants traveled to China for specialized training, and Chand is optimistic that they have returned equipped with the knowledge and skills to apply what they learned effectively.

Chand noted that the AIBO delegation’s presence in Fiji has strengthened training and human resources development relations between the two countries. The meeting facilitated an exchange of knowledge, exploration of further opportunities, and sharing of ideas towards achieving mutual goals.

Several civil servants who have participated in AIBO training attended the meeting, highlighting how the program has positively influenced their professional advancement.
