Strengthening Ties: China and Fiji Collaborate on Public Servant Training

A delegation from China’s Ministry of Commerce and the Academy for International Business Officials (AIBO) was welcomed by the Ministry of Civil Service (MCS) in Suva. The AIBO oversees all training programs funded by China and carried out by the Department of China-Aid Training.

Upon their arrival, Permanent Secretary Parmesh Chand expressed gratitude to the Chinese government for its contributions, which have supported thousands of public servants over the years. This year alone, over 100 Fijian public servants traveled to China to participate in various training programs. Chand noted that they returned equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to apply their learning effectively.

Chand indicated that the AIBO delegation’s visit has strengthened training and human resource development relations between the two countries. He remarked, “The meeting provided us with an opportunity to share knowledge, explore ways to advance our common objectives, and exchange ideas.”

During the meeting, civil servants who had participated in AIBO training shared their experiences and highlighted the ways in which the program has contributed to their professional development.
