The worsening state of the roads at the Suva Bus Stand has raised concerns among both pedestrians and bus operators. Operators are particularly worried about the growing number of potholes, which complicate navigation, especially during peak travel times.
In response, the Suva City Council (SCC) has assured the public that road repairs are a top priority. Acting chief executive officer Tevita Boseiwaqa indicated that the council has been actively communicating with the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) to resolve the matter.
“We are addressing this situation as a priority,” stated Mr. Boseiwaqa. “We’ve engaged with the FRA and I can assure the public that repairs will commence as soon as possible. The recent wet weather has significantly contributed to the deterioration of the roads, and once conditions improve, we will initiate the repair work.”
This proactive approach by the SCC and their collaboration with the FRA promises a more efficient and quicker resolution, assuring the community that they are working diligently to enhance safety and accessibility at the bus stand. With a focus on timely repairs, there is hope that the transportation experience in Suva will improve soon, benefitting both bus operators and the public.
