Police officers in the Western Division have been issued a stern warning to either meet the expectations of their roles or consider resigning. This statement was made by the Divisional Police Commander Western, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iakobo Vaisewa, during the fourth quarter divisional parade held for officers from Rakiraki to Sigatoka.

SSP Vaisewa emphasized the importance of treating every report with equal seriousness and providing adequate assistance when necessary. He pointed out that the community expects officers to be more responsive and called on them to either rise to the occasion or step down if they are unable to meet the demands of their job.

He urged his officers to address complaints effectively by adhering strictly to established processes and procedures. “No report should be treated lightly, and proper advice should be given to the complainant, ensuring they leave satisfied,” SSP Vaisewa stated.

Additionally, he reinforced the Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew’s, stance of zero tolerance towards officers involved in criminal activities. SSP Vaisewa warned that any officer who misuses their uniform for personal gain through illegal activities would face serious consequences.
