“Step Up or Step Out: Police Given Ultimatum in Western Division”

Police officers in the Western Division have been urged to either meet the demands of their roles or resign. This directive was delivered by the head of the Western Division during a divisional parade that took place yesterday, addressing officers from Rakiraki to Sigatoka.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iakobo Vaisewa emphasized the importance of treating every report with utmost seriousness and providing appropriate advice when necessary. He noted that the public expects police officers to be more responsive, insisting that those unable to fulfill these expectations should consider resigning.

Additionally, SSP Vaisewa reminded officers to properly address complaints through strict adherence to established processes and guidelines. He stated, “No report should be treated lightly, and proper advice should be given to the complainant, so they leave satisfied.”

He also reiterated the Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy towards any officers engaging in criminal activities, warning that any officer who exploits their position for personal gain through illegal activities will face serious consequences.
