Police officers in the Western Division have been urged to either enhance their performance to meet the demands of their role or consider resigning. This directive was given by the Divisional Police Commander Western, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iakobo Vaisewa, during the fourth quarter divisional parade, which included officers from Rakiraki to Sigatoka.
SSP Vaisewa emphasized the importance of treating every report with equal seriousness and providing appropriate guidance when necessary. He noted that the public expects a prompt and responsive police force, urging officers to either rise to the occasion or step down if they cannot handle the responsibilities of policing.
He also reminded the officers to address complaints effectively by adhering strictly to established processes and procedures. “No report should be treated lightly, and proper advice should be given to the complainant, so they leave satisfied,” SSP Vaisewa stated.
In addition, he reiterated the zero tolerance policy of Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew, regarding officers engaged in criminal activities. He warned that any officer found to be exploiting their uniform for illegal personal gain would face appropriate consequences.
