Police officers in the Western Division have been urged to meet the increasing demands of their roles or consider resigning. The warning was issued by the Divisional Police Commander Western, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iakobo Vaisewa, during a divisional parade that took place yesterday, which included officers from Rakiraki to Sigatoka.
SSP Vaisewa emphasized the need for officers to prioritize every report and offer appropriate advice when necessary. He stated that the public expects police officers to be more responsive and insisted that those unable to meet these demands must either improve or resign.
He reminded his officers to effectively address complaints by adhering strictly to established processes and procedures. “No report should be treated lightly, and proper advice should be given to the complainant, so they leave satisfied,” SSP Vaisewa noted.
Additionally, he echoed the Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew, regarding a zero-tolerance policy for officers engaged in criminal activities. SSP Vaisewa warned that any officer found exploiting their uniform for illegal personal gain will face serious consequences.
