Police officers in the Western Division have been instructed to either meet the demands of their roles or resign. This directive was issued by the Divisional Police Commander Western, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iakobo Vaisewa, during the fourth quarter divisional parade, which took place yesterday for officers from Rakiraki to Sigatoka.
SSP Vaisewa emphasized the importance of treating every report with the same seriousness and providing appropriate guidance when necessary. He stressed that the public expects police officers to be more responsive, urging them to step up or resign if they are unable to fulfill the expectations of their positions.
He reminded his officers to address complaints effectively by adhering strictly to established processes and procedures. “No report should be treated lightly, and proper advice should be given to the complainant, so they leave satisfied,” stated SSP Vaisewa.
Additionally, he reiterated the Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew’s, zero tolerance policy towards officers involved in criminal activities. SSP Vaisewa warned that any officer found using their uniform for personal gain through illegal activities would face appropriate consequences.
