Police officers in Fiji’s Western Division have been advised to either meet the expectations of their roles or consider resigning. This directive was issued by the Divisional Police Commander Western, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iakobo Vaisewa, during the divisional parade that took place from Rakiraki to Sigatoka.

SSP Vaisewa emphasized the necessity for officers to treat every report with equal seriousness and to offer appropriate guidance when needed. He highlighted the public’s expectations for a more responsive police force and urged officers to either rise to the challenge or step down if they are unable to handle the demands of their positions.

He reminded the officers to address complaints effectively by adhering strictly to established processes and procedures. “No report should be taken lightly, and proper advice should be provided to complainants, ensuring they leave satisfied,” said SSP Vaisewa.

Additionally, he reiterated the message from Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew, regarding zero tolerance for officers involved in unlawful activities. Any officer found exploiting their position for personal benefit through illegal actions will face serious consequences.
