“Step Up or Step Down: A Bold Demand from Police Leadership”

Police officers in the Western Division have been urged to either meet the demands of their policing duties or consider resigning. This message was conveyed by the head of the Western Division during a divisional parade that took place yesterday, which included personnel from Rakiraki to Sigatoka.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iakobo Vaisewa emphasized the need for officers to treat every report with equal importance and to offer appropriate advice when necessary. He stressed that the community expects police officers to be more responsive and insisted that those unable to handle the demands of their roles should resign.

SSP Vaisewa reminded his officers to address complaints effectively by adhering to established processes and procedures. “No report should be considered trivial, and it is essential to provide satisfactory advice to the complainant,” he stated.

He also reiterated the Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew’s stance on maintaining a zero tolerance policy towards officers involved in any criminal activities. SSP Vaisewa warned that any officer who misuses their uniform for personal gain through illegal actions will face appropriate consequences.
