“Step Up or Step Aside: Police Commander Issues Ultimatum”

Police officers in the Western Division have been given a stark ultimatum: enhance their policing capabilities or resign. This message was delivered by the Divisional Police Commander Western, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iakobo Vaisewa, during the end-of-year divisional parade where he addressed officers from Rakiraki to Sigatoka.

SSP Vaisewa emphasized the need for officers to treat every report with equal significance and to offer appropriate guidance when necessary. He pointed out that the public expects a higher level of responsiveness from law enforcement and urged officers to either rise to the occasion or step aside if they find the demands of policing overwhelming.

He also stressed the importance of addressing complaints effectively by adhering strictly to established processes and procedures. “No report should be taken lightly, and proper advice should be provided to ensure complainants leave satisfied,” SSP Vaisewa stated.

In addition, he echoed the zero-tolerance policy of Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew, regarding officers involved in any criminal activity. SSP Vaisewa warned that any officer using their uniform for personal gain through illegal activities would face serious consequences.
