“Step Up or Step Aside: Police Chief’s Ultimatum to Officers”

Police officers in the Western Division have been given a stern ultimatum: either rise to the challenges of their responsibilities or resign. The warning was delivered by the head of the Western Division during the divisional parade for the fourth quarter, which included officers from Rakiraki to Sigatoka.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iakobo Vaisewa urged the officers to consider every report as equally significant and to provide appropriate guidance when necessary. He emphasized that the community expects police officers to be more responsive and that those unable to meet these expectations should consider stepping down.

SSP Vaisewa highlighted the importance of adhering to established processes and procedures to minimize complaints from the public. He stated, “No report should be treated lightly, and proper advice should be provided to the complainant so they leave satisfied.”

Additionally, he reiterated the Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew’s, stance of zero tolerance for officers involved in criminal activities. SSP Vaisewa warned that any officer found abusing their uniform for personal gain through illegal means will face appropriate consequences.
