Police personnel in the Western Division have been instructed to either meet the challenges of their roles or resign from their positions. This directive was issued by the Divisional Police Commander Western, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iakobo Vaisewa, during the end of the fourth quarter divisional parade, which included officers from Rakiraki to Sigatoka.
SSP Vaisewa emphasized the importance of treating each report with equal significance and providing appropriate guidance when necessary. He pointed out that the public expects a prompt and effective response from police officers, urging those who cannot handle these demands to consider stepping down.
He also reminded his team to effectively manage complaints by adhering closely to established procedures. “No report should be handled casually, and it is essential to offer proper advice to ensure that complainants leave feeling satisfied,” stated SSP Vaisewa.
Furthermore, he reiterated the zero tolerance policy set by Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew, regarding officers engaged in illegal activities. SSP Vaisewa warned that any officer using their uniform for personal gain through unlawful actions will face strict consequences.
