“Step Up or Step Aside: A Bold Ultimatum for Police Officers”

Police officers in the Western Division have been urged to meet the expectations of their roles or consider resigning. The warning was issued by the Divisional Police Commander, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iakobo Vaisewa, during the end-of-quarter parade that involved officers from Rakiraki to Sigatoka.

SSP Vaisewa emphasized the importance of treating every report with equal significance and providing appropriate guidance when necessary. He noted that the community expects police officers to respond effectively and called on them to either step up to the demands of policing or resign if they are unable to handle the pressures of the job.

He reminded officers to address complaints diligently by adhering strictly to established processes and procedures. “No report should be treated lightly, and proper advice should be given to the complainant, ensuring they leave satisfied,” SSP Vaisewa stated.

Additionally, he reiterated the Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew’s, stance on zero tolerance for officers involved in criminal activities, asserting that any officer misusing their uniform for personal gain through illegal activities will face serious consequences.
