The World Bank has appointed Stefano Mocci as its Group Country Manager for Fiji, a role that aims to unify country-level leadership to better support both public and private sector priorities in Fiji.

This newly established position serves as a single point of access to the full range of World Bank Group products and services, enhancing the institution’s capacity to address global challenges and drive development with greater speed, efficiency, and impact.

“We are committed to this new and unified leadership approach that will enable us to better support the country’s public and private sector to better serve the people of Fiji,” Mocci stated.

“Unified Bank Group leadership will improve our speed and make us a better partner to the government, the private sector, and ultimately the people we serve,” he added.

The World Bank Group’s focus areas in Fiji include strengthening economic and climate resilience, building social protection and health systems, enhancing the sustainability of the tourism sector, increasing gender inclusion, and improving the resilience of infrastructure.

In addition, the Bank Group is dedicated to supporting private sector development by enhancing the enabling environment for investment and improving environmental, social, and governance practices.

Prior to this role, Mocci has served in various positions across the World Bank Group, most recently as the World Bank Country Manager for the South Pacific, and the World Bank Country Manager for Papua New Guinea. He has also held field-based posts in both middle-income countries and regions affected by conflict and violence.
