Stefano Mocci Appointed World Bank Group Country Manager for Fiji

The World Bank has appointed Stefano Mocci as its Group Country Manager for Fiji. This newly established position aims to unify country-level leadership to better support Fiji’s public and private sector priorities.

This role will serve as a single point of contact for accessing the full range of World Bank Group products and services, enhancing the institution’s ability to address global challenges and drive development with greater speed, efficiency, and impact.

“We are committed to this new and unified leadership approach that will enable us to better support the country’s public and private sector to better serve the people of Fiji,” Mocci stated.

He emphasized that unified Bank Group leadership will enhance their speed and effectiveness, making them a stronger partner to the government, the private sector, and the community.

The World Bank Group’s focus in Fiji includes strengthening economic and climate resilience, building social protection and health systems, enhancing the sustainability of the tourism sector, increasing gender inclusion, and improving the resilience of infrastructure.

Moreover, the group is dedicated to supporting private sector development by creating a conducive environment for investment and improving environmental, social, and governance practices.

Prior to this role, Mocci has held various positions within the World Bank Group, including World Bank Country Manager for the South Pacific and Papua New Guinea. He has also served in field-based posts in middle-income countries and regions affected by conflict, fragility, and violence.
