As the festive season approaches, the public is urged to prioritize their safety. The Fiji Police Force has announced the commencement of their festive season operations, which will begin this Friday.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, emphasized the importance of vigilance during this time, regardless of the activities people engage in. “We want to remind everyone to be mindful of their safety when traveling on the road, shopping, picnicking by the beach or rivers, or simply enjoying time with friends,” stated ACP Driu.
He highlighted the increased police presence aimed at ensuring everyone’s safety, but stressed that individual responsibility is crucial. “Safety starts with each individual,” he noted. Additionally, the police will be coordinating with various stakeholders to monitor movements, particularly on the road, to help maintain law and order.
The Fiji Police Force is dedicated to ensuring a safe and incident-free festive season and is calling for community support. “We need your assistance in keeping everyone safe on the roads, at sea, in towns and cities, and at home with your loved ones,” ACP Driu said.
Expect to see an increased police presence in urban areas, on roads and highways, within communities, at popular picnic spots, schools, and businesses.
This community-focused approach fosters a greater sense of shared responsibility, encouraging everyone to contribute to a safer festive season. Collectively, with enhanced vigilance and collaboration, there is hope for a joyous and secure celebration ahead.
