As the festive season approaches, public safety takes center stage. The Fiji Police Force has initiated its operations across the nation, starting Friday.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, emphasized that safety should always be a priority, regardless of the occasion. “We want to remind everyone to be mindful of their safety while traveling, shopping, or enjoying time at picnics along the sea, rivers, and creeks, or simply socializing with friends,” Driu stated.

He noted that while the police presence is heightened for public safety, the responsibility for safety ultimately lies with individuals. “Safety starts with each individual,” he added.

Driu also mentioned that the police will collaborate with partners to monitor transportation and ensure safe movement, particularly on the roads. “We are also committed to upholding law and order,” he explained. “The Fiji Police Force aims for an incident-free festive season, and we urge everyone’s support. We cannot achieve this alone; your cooperation is essential in maintaining safety, whether on the roads, at sea, in towns and cities, or while enjoying time at home with loved ones.”

There will be an increased police presence in urban areas, along highways, in communities, at picnic spots, in schools, and around businesses.

This proactive approach by the Fiji Police Force to ensure a safe and joyful holiday season is commendable. The call for community cooperation highlights the importance of collective responsibility in maintaining safety, making it a time for both celebration and vigilance.

In summary, as we enter the festive season, it is vital for everyone to stay alert and prioritize safety. With the police ramping up their efforts and calling for community support, there is hope for a secure and joyful holiday time for all.
