As the festive season approaches, the public is reminded to prioritize their safety. In anticipation of the celebrations, the Fiji Police Force is launching its festive season operation nationwide starting Friday.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, emphasized the importance of individual responsibility in ensuring safety during this bustling time. “We want to remind everyone to be mindful of their safety when traveling on the road, out shopping, at picnics by the sea and rivers, or simply enjoying themselves with friends,” said ACP Driu.
The police force plans to increase their presence in key areas to enhance community safety. “We are here for the maintenance of law and order,” ACP Driu noted, as he encouraged cooperation from the public to achieve a safe and incident-free festive season. The police cannot do it alone; they need the collective effort of the community to ensure safety on the roads, at the beach, in towns and cities, and at home with loved ones.
There will be an elevated police presence in urban areas, along highways, in neighborhoods, at picnic spots, schools, and businesses throughout the holiday period.
In summary, the Fiji Police Force is taking proactive measures to ensure that everyone can enjoy the festive season safely. With collaboration between law enforcement and the public, there is hope for a joyful and secure holiday experience for all.
