As the festive season approaches, the public is urged to prioritize their safety. This advice comes as the Fiji Police Force launches its nationwide festive season operation, beginning Friday.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, emphasized the importance of being vigilant during the holidays, regardless of the activities planned. “We want to remind everyone to be mindful of their safety when traveling, shopping, enjoying picnics by the sea or rivers, or simply spending time with friends,” Driu stated.
The police will increase their presence for community safety, but ACP Driu highlighted that safety initiatives must originate with individuals. He mentioned their dedication to supporting stakeholders in monitoring road activities and maintaining law and order throughout the bustling season. “The Fiji Police Force aims for an incident-free festive season and is calling for everyone’s cooperation. Our efforts are bolstered by community support, whether it’s on the roads, at sea, in towns, or at home,” he said.
To ensure heightened security, there will be a notable police presence in towns, cities, on highways, in communities, at picnic sites, schools, and various businesses. This proactive approach promises a safer experience for everyone as they celebrate the season.
In light of these efforts, it is heartening to see the community’s involvement emphasized. With cooperation between the public and law enforcement, this festive season can be enjoyed without incident, highlighting the spirit of togetherness and safety.
This initiative not only aims to protect the citizens during a joyous time but also fosters a sense of community responsibility and vigilance, creating a harmonious environment for all.
