As the festive season approaches, the public is reminded to prioritize their safety. This guidance comes as the Fiji Police Force has initiated its annual festive season operations nationwide starting Friday.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, emphasized the importance of safety across all activities and settings. He stated, “We want to remind everyone to be mindful of their safety when traveling on the road, out shopping, at picnics by the sea or rivers, or simply enjoying time with friends.”
The police presence will be increased to ensure public safety, but ACP Driu stressed that personal safety begins with individual responsibility. He mentioned ongoing collaboration with various stakeholders to monitor movements, especially on roadways. “We aim for an incident-free festive season and appeal for everyone’s partnership in this effort. The police cannot accomplish this alone; your support in keeping our environment safe is crucial,” he added.
To foster a secure atmosphere, there will be heightened police visibility in towns and cities, on roadways, in communities, at popular picnic locations, schools, and business areas.
This proactive approach by the Fiji Police Force not only aims to curb potential incidents during this festive season but also encourages communities to take collective responsibility for safety. By working together, both the authorities and the public can create a safer, more enjoyable festive experience for everyone.
In summary, as festivities unfold, safety remains a shared responsibility. Everyone is invited to participate actively in promoting a secure environment this season.
