Saint Mary’s Primary School has triumphed once again at the Labasa Primary School Athletics Competition, successfully defending its championship title with an impressive haul of 30 gold, 17 silver, and 8 bronze medals. This victory marks the school’s second consecutive win at this prestigious event.
In the competition, Labasa Primary School secured second place, earning 13 gold medals, along with 10 silver and 8 bronze. Meanwhile, Holy Family Primary School finished in third place with 11 gold, 24 silver, and 18 bronze medals.
Ratu Josateki Drevakarua, an athlete from the winning school, expressed his gratitude for the event and acknowledged the importance of teamwork and support. “We give thanks and honour to the Almighty for giving us the strength to defend our title,” he stated. Drevakarua also noted the challenges faced during the two-day preparation leading up to the competition, emphasizing that the school’s success could not have been achieved without the unwavering support of their coach, teachers, and parents.
The competition drew participation from a total of 18 schools over the course of three days, showcasing the athletic talents of students from the region.
