Javish Lal, a promising sprinter from Labasa, is exploring potential opportunities as he continues to showcase his athletic talent. The year eight student from Tabia Primary School made a notable impression at the Labasa Primary Schools Athletics competition, earning a medal in the under-14 category, much to the delight of the crowd at Subrail Park.
Reflecting on his performance, Javish expressed satisfaction but emphasized his commitment to continuous improvement. This latest achievement adds to his accolades, including a gold medal in the U13 category at the primary school athletics national meet in Lautoka. He credits the support and motivation from his coaches for his success.
Although Javish has attracted interest from schools in Suva, he has set clear conditions for accepting any offers. He insists that any opportunity must include a full scholarship and accommodation due to his family’s financial situation. “I come from a poor family, and it would be hard to live in Suva without proper support. If they offer me a scholarship and a place to stay, I’ll definitely consider it,” he stated.
His father, Gitendra Lal, expresses concern over the implications of this potential move. He underlines the importance of ensuring adequate support before making such a significant decision. Gitendra hopes that a school would recognize Javish’s passion for sports and provide the necessary opportunities for his development.
This situation highlights not only Javish’s talent but also the challenges young athletes face in pursuing their dreams. With a supportive framework in place, it is hopeful that talented individuals like Javish can thrive and achieve their aspirations, paving the way for future success in athletics.
