Spain Clinches WXV 3 Title in Thrilling Finalé!

Spain secured the WXV 3 title and qualified for the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup with a tense 10-8 victory over the Vodafone Fijiana team in the United Arab Emirates.

Fijiana full-back Luisa Tisolo had a chance to tie the game and potentially hand the title to Samoa with her final kick, but she missed, prompting jubilant celebrations among the Spanish players. Samoa, despite not winning the title, earned a place in England for the World Cup for the first time since 2014 after defeating Madagascar 46-15 earlier.

The Netherlands concluded their first tournament with a spirited performance, achieving a 33-3 win against Hong Kong China, which secured them third place.

In the Samoa vs. Madagascar match, Samoa aimed to secure their World Cup spot. Despite Madagascar taking an early lead with a try from Claudia Rasoarimalala, Samoa quickly turned the tide, with Cassie Siataga converting her own try. Samoa faced a brief setback with two players sin-binned, but they extended their lead with penalties and more tries. Even after Madagascar’s Tiana Razanamahefa scored, Samoa pulled away again, culminating in a strong finish.

The Netherlands, although knowing they would not qualify for the World Cup, finished impressively by defeating Hong Kong China. Linneke Gevers started the scoring early, and despite some pushback from Hong Kong, the Dutch team maintained control throughout, sealing victory with a final try from Lieve Stallmann.

In the match between Fiji and Spain, Fiji led with an early penalty from Luisa Tisolo, but Spain fought back with sustained pressure, scoring through Alba Capell. After a late penalty from Zahia Perez, a final Fijiana try fell short as Tisolo’s conversion failed, allowing Spain to hold on for the win.
